اتهمت Ashley Kang فريق T1 بوضعها على القائمة السوداء بعد تغطيتها لجدل حصل في 2022 يتعلق بالفريق واللاعب Oner. وفي مقابلة مع المذيع Kim Seong-hoe، قالت Kang إن المدير التنفيذي لـ Joe Marsh وفريق العلاقات العامة سحبوا منها إمكانية إجراء مقابلات مع اللاعبين بعد نشرها لمقالة كشفت فيها عن خادم Discord خاص شارك فيه Marsh معلومات داخلية عن الفريق وصورًا لـ Oner وهو بدون قميص — ما أثار تعليقات غير لائقة، بما في ذلك مزحة من Marsh قال فيها: “من سيقوم برش الزيت عليه؟”
لاحقًا، ادّعى Marsh أن المحتوى كان جزءًا من خدمة مدفوعة موجهة للجماهير الدولية، لكن الجماهير الكورية أعربت عن غضبها من الطابع الحصري للمحتوى ونبرة التعليقات. وأكدت Ashley Kang أنه بعد نشر مقالتها، تم منع منصتها KORIZON من إجراء مقابلات في Worlds 2022، حيث اعترف فريق العلاقات العامة لاحقًا بأن القرار جاء من Marsh.
وعلى الرغم من أن تغطيتها كانت قائمة على الحقائق ومنحت T1 فرصة للتعليق، قالت Kang إنها وحدها تم معاقبتها، بينما لم تُعاقب وسائل إعلام أخرى. وشاركت أن Marsh طلب منها أن تعتذر علنًا أو تواجه استمرار المنع من المقابلات، وهو ما رفضته قائلة: “إذا اعتذرت عن تغطية الحقائق، فلن أكون صحفية بعد الآن.”
تحدثت كانغ أيضًا عن قضية أوسع وهي قمع الإعلام في مجال esports، مؤكدة أن هذا يخلق سابقة خطيرة ويثبط التقارير الصادقة. وكشفت أن صحفيين آخرين مروا بتجارب مشابهة لكنهم يخافون من الحديث علنًا.
وبعد تقرير آخر كتبته Kang حول مشكلات DDoS التي أثرت على تدريبات فريق T1، تم رفض منحها تصريحًا مرة أخرى، رغم أن العديد من المنصات الإعلامية الأخرى غطت القصة نفسها. وترى أن هذا الاستبعاد المستمر هو عمل انتقامي.
رغم أنها فكرت في ترك مجال esports تمامًا، قالت Kang إنها لا تزال ملتزمة بالتغطية العادلة ودعم اللاعبين. ولم يصدر عن T1 أي رد على اتهاماتها حتى الآن.

On August 12th, anonymous sources revealed the existence of a private fan T1 Discord
The screenshots from this private server showed members of the T1 organization being active on the server/sharing exclusive “leak” contents

On August 15th, further screenshots from the said private Discord server surfaced.
The screenshots showed the T1 CEO commenting about Oner in a discussion with fans, and using the word “thirst trap”
Issuing further controversy on whether the comment was appropriate.
